Details of the offer

Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Communications and Events, the Public Information Officer
will be responsible for the following duties:
Ensures implementation of digital communications projects to publicize priority issues and/or
major events, to include drafting information strategies, coordinating efforts, monitoring and
reporting on progress, taking appropriate follow-up action, and analyzing the outcome.
Monitors and analyzes current systems and technologies, events, public opinion and press,
identifies issues and trends, workflows and strategies, and advises management on appropriate
action/responses through digital channels.
Undertakes activities to promote coverage through digital channels (e.g. website, live streaming
sessions) of priority issues and/or major events, to include development of a digital media
strategy and action plan, disseminating materials and consulting with sections and divisions on
approach/story angle and other information requests, undertaking appropriate follow-up action
and analyzing and reporting on the impact of coverage.
Produces or oversees production of a specific type or types of digital information communications
products (e.g. webpages, audio-visual materials, podcasts, digital photo-stories, etc.), to include
proposing topics, undertaking research, determining appropriate medium and target audience,
preparing production plans, writing drafts, obtaining clearances and finalizing texts, editing copy,
and coordinating design approval, printing procedures and distribution.
Prepares, on the basis of, official ITC documentation and other sources, initial drafts of articles or
chapters for inclusion in ITC newsletters, periodicals, reports and books.
Initiates and sustains professional relationships with key constituencies.
Acts as focal point on specific issues, monitoring and reporting on developments, responding to
inquiries, etc.
Participates in selecting the information transmitted to key constituencies.
Manages procurement and contract processes related to digital communications.
Provides guidance to, and may supervise, more junior staff and consultants.
Perform other duties as requiredELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
EDUCATION: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication,
journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. Project management
certification desirable.
NOTE: Candidates who have completed a first level university degree in communication, journalism,
international relations, public administration or a related field may be considered with an additional
two years of qualifying experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in public information, journalism,
international relations, public administration or related area.
Previous experience in the UN common System desirable. Experience of communications within a
trade-related environment desirable. Previous experience with digital communications desirable
LANGUAGES: Advanced English and intermediate French is required. Knowledge of another UN

products in a clear, concise style. Ability to deliver oral presentations to various audiences.

TERMS OF SERVICE
Appointments with ITC are service-limited to this organization. The conditions of service are governed
by the United Nations Staff Rules and Regulations. This is a fixed term appointment.INTERNATIONAL TRADE CENTRE Page 4
INDICATIVE ANNUAL SALARY AT THE P-3 LEVEL
Annual Salary (net of tax)
Starting from 60,962 US$, with annual increments subject to performance.
Post Adjustment
In addition to the above annual salary a monthly post adjustment is paid. The rate as October 2020
is 79.4% of the monthly salary. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations
may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or
inflation.
