Job Description Summary
To oversee the IT infrastructure and operation of the Center for Biomedical Image Computing and Analytics, an on-going research center involving more than 30 faculty and over 600 researchers from various departments of the school of medicine. Duties include design and operation of an HPC cluster, strategic planning and budgeting, including evaluation and implementation of new technology, capacity planning and negotiation with vendors. The candidate will lead IT operations staff through hands-on responsibility for major projects. Excellent communication with the center's faculty and labs is required in order to understand and meet their computing needs, as well as working with other groups in the School of Medicine to potentially pool financial and personnel resources into a broader imaging informatics group. This role requires awareness of research computing through communication with peers and outreach such as attending conferences and visiting other centers of similar scope. The candidate will also oversee and partially implement routine systems administration support of a large computer cluster, and will have personnel management responsibilities for IT staff.

Defining standard for computing policy
Budgeting and dealing with vendors, coordinate with other groups at Penn to pool resources -
Infrastructure planning, evaluation of broad needs and technology options, review other centers of similar scope, make decisions on center's IT infrastructure
Supervision of sysadmin and software developer
System administration of Linux and Unix servers
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (10 or more years preferred)
