We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to manage a staff of engineers across 1-2 of our platform products. An Engineering Manager at Arc provides technical and career guidance to the engineers on their team, partners with Product Management to plan the backlog of the products and owns the technical direction and operations of their team’s products built on AWS. This position will overlook a team of 7-8 engineers and work towardsbuilding a world class, bleeding edge set of applications focused on delivering subscriptions, checkout, paywall, offer and campaign management. You will play a crucial role with opportunities to bring your unique ideas around development practices, testing and deployment strategies to the table.
Responsibilities
Manage a team of full stack software engineers that design, implement, instrument, test, deploy and support their own code.
Contribute to the products via architecture, code reviews and sometimes hands on development and operations.
Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects in an Agile process.
Coach team members on a daily basis, set goals and conduct performance reviews.
Own the full lifecycle of your team's QA and Operations.
Assist teams to maintain a balanced support workload.
Have a deep understanding of how our platform and client solutions are built.
Partner with Product Owners to maintain a business and technical roadmap that is implemented in an Agile delivery process.
Turn the roadmap into staffing needs and a hiring strategy.
Implement a technical strategy that ensures future success of your products and teams.
Contribute to design and architecture of systems that span multiple teams and/or products.
Interact with customers of the Arc platform to gather product feedback and to improve the products.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
8+ years experience engineering highly-scalable customer facing applications.
2+ years experience managing software engineers.
Experience architecting and implementing scalable SaaS or Cloud based applications.
Experience leading the implementation of technical products and mentoring junior and senior developers.
Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Javascript.
Experience with at least one front-end Javascript framework.
Experience with multiple database and event processing systems.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building web applications on AWS.
Experience with devops teams that own the full engineering lifecycle.
Experience with monitoring the health of production applications in an on-call rotation
Experience analyzing application and cloud environment performance.
Experience working in a global business with customers in multiple time zones.
Experience with front-end technologies such as React
Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks.
