A. Purpose and Scope The Safety Officer I assist in providing support to the management on all matters regarding occupational health and safety. At this development level he/she receive prescribe in house formal training program to identify hazards, assess risks, put appropriate safety controls in place and provide reports about accident prevention and occupational health. Assists for the implementation of the safety and health program of the company.
B. Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists in promoting occupational health and safety within the company and develop safer and healthier workplace and procedures.
• Ensures that workplaces conform to safety standards and all necessary permits are secured before work execution.
• Ensures that employees are complying with the safety policies, plans and procedures.
• Assists in regular safety checking of tools and equipment to comply with the customer requirements and ensure that certificates are up-to-date.
• Ensures that personal protective equipment being used in workplaces is in accordance with the required standards.
• Assists in facilitating the renewal of employee safety badges and in preparation of necessary requirement prior to processing of their plant access.
• Assists in regular inspection of Building, Tools, Fire Extinguisher, PPE and Lifting Equipment
• Assists in the correct storage, labeling and provision of MSDS for dangerous materials.
• Assists in carrying out inspection of workplaces and take necessary action to ensure compliance.
• Records and reports hazards, accidents/incidents, injuries and health issues within the workplace.
• Assists in the investigation of accidents/incidents and unsafe working conditions, study the possible causes and recommend remedial action.
• Participates in organizing emergency procedures, rescues, firefighting and first aid.
• Assists in conducting regular daily pep talk / toolbox meeting in the workplace.
• Prepares and processes the pre and post project safety permits and related documents required by the client.
• Attends Client Safety and Health orientation and meetings and stay informed of new development and updates in their Safety and Health standards, rules and regulations.
• Partakes in the preparation of inspection report of the Health and Safety.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned.
