ManilaProduct Design Engineer – Manila, PhilippinesPurpose of the Job:
Under moderate supervision, carries out design assignments of a routine to moderately complex nature with limited latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Prepares sketches or completes detail and layout drawings from verbal or written instructions on product. Participates in the development of original designs or adaptations requiring specialized experience. Applies all preliminary information and contributing data to develop final design. Prepares layout, detail, and assembly drawings. Various calculations such as strength of materials, simple forces and stresses, and weights, may be required.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions): This self-motivated individual will provide support for, but not limited to, the following areas:
General Design:
? Design and Drafting work for product changes driven by an Engineer that entails modifying prints to reflect the revisions via the ECO process.
? Develop a database of 3D components to more effectively develop models for new products and sustaining engineering activities.
? Learning and understanding multiple manufacturing processes to ensure parts are designed to manufacturing capabilities.
? Develop full 3D models using the 3D components library interfacing all the mating parts. Based on full 3D models, provide feedback to Engineers on potential solutions to successfully assemble all mating components for better assembly.Design Support:
? Provide design and drafting support to others to better utilize the senior designers on larger scale programs
? Designing and detailing operations for changes to artwork for product labels, instruction sheets, advertising cards, etc.
? Develop layouts for medium scale programs to assist in the development of new products and/or sustaining engineering activities. This would include several concept options to full development of a solid model that represent ideas of the project team.Other Duties:
? In preparation of ECO’s, designers will assist the engineer in completing an imploded bill of material to identify all areas that are affected by the product change.
? Designers will be utilized in other areas of the department to supplement project resources, such as testing, sample preparation, and pilot production.
? Designers will take direction primarily from product engineers.
? Understand and follow Quality Management System.Experience & Education:
? Minimum 4 year engineering college degree
? Preferred BSME degree
? Design Capability - 3 to 5 years of designing products utilizing various tools, preferably CADD (AutoCad 2D and SolidWorks 3D preferred) and product design. Ability to finish design concepts with dimensional and GD&T features.
? Computer Skills – Intermediate PC software knowledge, specifically Excel, Word, and Access.
? Team Player - Must be comfortable working with other people in an open environment
? Hands On Ability - Able to work with tools, comfortable in testing/prototype lab environment
? Interpersonal Skills - Ability to get along with all levels of the engineering organization
? Confident - Able to be flexible and open to others ideas but confident in one’s abilities to question others.Computer Skills:
? MS Office products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Oracle.
