**GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION**:He/she shall examine tests of blood, tissue and body liquids to decide chemical content, cell count, drug levels or blood type; they may likewise look for micro-organisms such as parasites. Setting up the examples for examination, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously, and precisely translating the results.**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Responsible for the proper collection, preservation and storage of specimens, and analysis of specimen.2. Advise patients on preparation and procedures to be observed prior to extraction.3. Screens and rejects unsatisfactory specimens received.4. Processes the completion of routine and special analysis.5. Responsible for the maintenance and orderliness of the section and the machine/s5.1. Performs routine machine start-up and quality control to be used for the day and record results.5.2. Establishes and interprets quality control charts, trend and shifts.5.3. Perform machine calibration as needed.5.4. Performs equipment and reagent evaluation.6. Double checks specimens with panic and abnormal results and refers to Chief Medical Technologist or Department Head for second opinion before releasing.7. Record-keeping and documentation.7.1. Records all results in the proper logbook and signs all official results before release.7.2. Keep records of patients' results, quality control, and maintenance log sheet and service report of equipment in the section.7.3. Checks the reagents and materials needed for the weeks and ensures the availability of supplies.7.4. Responsible for the monthly and annual census of the section.8. Obtains supplies for the Department.9.
