Summary: The DL Manager is responsible for managing and directing the daily activities of the entire operations of Distribution & Logistics, including workforce scheduling supervision and the proper handling of delivery concerns. Responsible for ensuring the right products are delivered at the right location on time, to the quality required and in the most cost-effective way. Oversees the distribution and transportation of goods from the manufacturer to the consumer. Dependent on the size and structure of the organization, may plan and oversee the whole process or may work in part of the chain. Also dependent on the size and structure of the organization, the job holder may take responsibility for the distribution & logistics.
Duties & Responsibilities: • Hire, train, and manage distribution & logistics staff.
• Oversee workplace safety standards and ensure compliance.
• Strategize cost reducing tactics and efficiency improvements.
• Strategically plan and manage distribution & logistics.
• Keep track of quality, quantity, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
• Resolve any arising problems or complaints.
• Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
• Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
• Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation and training or safety records.
• Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.
• Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
• Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
• Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery. • Negotiate import/local freight, brokerage and transportation rates or services.
• Supervise the work of distribution & logistics department.
• Plan or implement improvements to internal or external distribution & logistics systems or processes.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate distribution & logistics with business systems or processes.
• Direct inbound/imported shipment or outbound logistics operations, such as importation, transportation, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
• Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
• Review national, or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities.
Qualifications & Requirements: -A graduate of Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or any business-related courses.
-With at least 5-7 years' experience in any industry, preferably retail of personal care products.
-Familiarity with inventory software or ERP.
-A thorough knowledge about the product or service they are offering.
-Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Able to work in a fast-paced environment; can work independently.
-Efficiency and organizational skills, and administrative skills.
-Pays attention to detail and monitors quality of inventory.
-Can multi-task and identify priorities.
