This position is open to any chemistry discipline. Candidates with the ability to teach laboratory and/or lecture courses in analytical chemistry and/or physical chemistry are encouraged to apply. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all degree requirements before the beginning date of appointment.

Description of the Department or Unit
The A. R. Smith Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with eight different concentrations: the American Chemical Society (ACS) Certified degree, Marketing and Business, Biochemistry, Environmental, Fermentation Sciences, Forensic Science, Individually Designed and Chemistry Secondary Education Licensure. The department also offers a BA degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fermentation Sciences. The department has 18 tenure-track faculty members, 17 non-tenure track faculty members and approximately 350 undergraduate majors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach 15 contact hours per week in undergraduate laboratories and/or lectures. Primary instructional duties will be introductory chemistry. Additional classes in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, or another specific subdiscipline may be required, dependent upon candidate qualifications. The candidate will hold office hours for students, foster a risk-based chemical safety approach, and perform the other normal duties associated with teaching. Teaching assignments may be adjusted depending upon departmental needs and qualifications of the successful candidate. Candidates will be expected to engage in relevant service activities, and to promote diversity and inclusive excellence.
