Höegh Autoliners is looking for an IT Back-End Developer (Java), role that specializes in Java, whom embodies the ability to transform a dated stack and release process into something automated, modern, containerized and potentially serverless. You will participate in all aspects of product development and working with requirements and coding them into microservices together with a highly skilled and transformative team that works in an agile and lean manner.
You will drive awareness and importance of clean code and are no stranger to common programming patterns. You may be familiar with cloud development and may know what it takes to structure software components and dependencies into one that is cloud native. You may have delivered APIs that are stateless and idempotent and runs on immutable infrastructure. Do not worry if you don’t; we love to bring a keen mind on this journey!
Your core not only burns for Java, but you are open to other programming languages. You understand why microservices and UNIX principles are important and wonder why everyone else is not following them. Aside from being a quality-focused engineer, you also thrive for automation and believe in developers writing unit and integration tests as part of the day today. Ideally, you have shipped software products and/or services in your past experience either in enterprises or startups.
You are no stranger to the good of fashioned technical discussions, understand what it takes for good communication and collaboration. You probably use a Mac or Linux and their ecosystem as your working tool of choice.

Key Responsibilities The IT Back-end Developer (Java) will develop APIs. Ideally using a lean Java stack for optimal scalability and reliability. You will be a key member in the team together with the frontend and backend developers, testers, and designers. You will participate in a Scrum process and in cooperation with the team, the end result is tested in establishing regression and launched to production. The goal is to ascertain feedback immediately and to continuously improve.
Server-side coding and debugging with Java and SQL databases Familiarity with NoSQL technologies an advantage Understand PL/SQL is a plus Worked with J2EE and knowing all the pitfalls is a plus Understand HTTP and other typical web standards Integrations with front-end code Scalability and performance optimization Unit and integration test automation Contribute and adhere to quality control coding standards and best practices Third line support and defect correction Participate in API creation and RESTful services implementation Maintain own technical skills and contribute to the technical skills of others Monitor the build, test and other software quality-oriented status during the CI/CD pipeline Be part of a fun journey together with a highly technical team that is in place to digitally transform and modernize an enterprise with a go-getter attitude and a start-up mentality. Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience Masters or Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent technical qualification Practical back-end development and deployment experience 3-5 years Hands on experience with automated testing and writing good unit tests Experience with Java and SQL coding Worked with either Spring-boot, Dropwizard, micronaut.io is a major plus Worked with CI/CP tooling and methods Experience with deliveries that are to time, cost and quality consistently across multiple projects in parallel is a plus DevOps interests and experience with Docker is a plus Personality Strong team player Excellent communication skills in an international environment Analytical, structured and solutions oriented
