Elementary Teacher

Is directly responsible to the Education Coordinator and/or Executive Assistant and is indirectly responsible to the Executive Director and should do the following:*Teach assigned students, particularly older children who do not attend school outside, appropriate material for their grade levels as outlined in GHI Curriculum;Follow the GHI curriculum as agreed upon by the EC;Be prepared each morning for the entire day’s classroom activities;Keep detailed records of each student’s progress, providing monthly progress reports;Work with creativity to give well-rounded education;Speak and teach English as many of these children will be adopted abroad;Maintain order in the classroom, implementing agreed on effective class management strategies;Keep the classroom and resources well organized and well maintained;Assist in any extra-curricular activities that will benefit and grow the students;Teach and provide an example of life skills such as interpersonal relationships, budgeting, and leadership;Work in conjunction with caregivers of students in regards to homework and subject matter covered.**Skills and Qualifications:BS in Education or with Master level education in EducationPRC licenseExperience in the field and a love for teaching;Expertise in classroom management;Skilled with children, especially children from hard places;Personal skill set of organization and problem solving.***Job Type: Full-time
