Job Description:
To edit outputs submitted by bilingual Filipino+English linguists on a quick turnaround basis, and to take on other projects from time to time like translation, localization, linguistic validation, etc. To attain a high-quality rating standard for their editing and translation work To identify areas for improvement of linguists in terms of linguistic knowledge and translation accuracy, and provide relevant feedback accordingly To address linguistic queries from linguists To carry out certain editing related duties including validation, rework, and other post-delivery QA issues and to some extent, preparation of training material, in close coordination with the Quality Manager and/or the client To readily help identify weak technical systems and brainstorm for potential improvements and corrective and preventive actions upon request or when the need arises To administer regular linguistic training sessions (i.e. common linguistic errors training) To assist the Quality Manager in assessing quality related employee performance To coordinate with the Quality Manager and Technical Manager in case of any issues with jobs at any stage of the production process To represent the company in client communications, as assigned To complete other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager Minimum Qualifications:
Important: this job opening is for Editors working in the Filipino (Tagalog) language who are also bilingually competent in the English language. Candidates who are competent in just either Filipino or English need not apply. Preferably Linguistics, Journalism, Philippine Studies, Creative Writing, Filipino and other related courses; all courses will be considered as long as applicant is a good bilingual writer/editor or has an experience writing and editing bilingually (Filipino/Tagalog, English) Fluency in other languages (local or international) is an advantage Applicants with Linguistics degree will be prioritized Applicants with 2-3 years of experience in a related industry will be prioritized as well Applicants with 2-3 years of experience in other fields will be considered Fresh graduates are not encouraged to apply, if their writing and linguistics background are stellar, please apply for Linguist position instead Good command of the Filipino/Tagalog and English languages Excellent Filipino/Tagalog and English comprehension Knows the difference between Filipino and Tagalog, understands the politics of the Philippine languages, can communicate with international clients during quality calls Can do self-proofreading, ability to spot typos and other objective errors of own work and the work of others Can work independently and as part of a team Ability to socialize and collaborate with fellow linguists Can organize and hold training sessions and other activities to help the team's continuous improvement Important skills required: Oral and Written Communication in both Filipino/Tagalog and English, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal skills, Crisis Management, People skills, Attention to Details, Change Management, Flexibility, Multitasking and Prioritization (urgent vs. important), Ability to meet deadlines and cope in a fast-paced environment
