ELCE is now looking to fill the following faculty position:
Assistant Professor – Educator, Experience-Based Learning & Career Education

Responsibilities
This is an Assistant Professor, Educator position with primary responsibility for teaching courses included in the Multidisciplinary Initiatives area. Assigned teaching responsibilities may include courses across the Academic Internship Program and the Pre-Health Internship Program (e.g., PD 1000: Exploring Health Care Professions, PD 1070: Exploring Professional Paths, PD1170: Career Readiness for the Liberal Arts). As new initiatives are developed, the faculty member may be responsible for developing and/or teaching new career education/experiential learning courses that align with the mission of ELCE and/or institutional initiatives.
This position requires competencies to instruct students interested in pursuing a wide variety of careers with a particular focus on first-year students. Courses are intended to meet UC’s career education learning outcomes. Ideal candidates will also have specialized experience working with students interested in the natural sciences and health care professions, including an understanding of the application and admissions process for professional school programs.
On a full-time basis, an Educator faculty member’s primary responsibility involves regular classroom instruction in the pedagogical mission of the Division of Experience-Based Learning and Career Education (ELCE) and advising students enrolled in assigned programs regarding career-relevant development. This faculty member’s primary responsibility will be advancing the mission of ELCE through classroom teaching, student advising, and internal/external partnership development. The position involves teaching professional development and experiential learning courses for students in a variety of disciplines and advising students as they progress on their professional pathway. Faculty will guide students through the process of searching for and obtaining experiential learning opportunities that align with their professional goals.
Additionally, Educator appointed faculty are expected to contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning or of their academic discipline, and to the service missions of the university. Specific expectations may be described in the letter of appointment and the unit reappointment and promotion criteria.
Required Qualifications:
A non-tenure track appointment requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with on and off campus partners.
The candidate’s background must reflect effectiveness in interpersonal relationships and the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of interest groups.
Demonstrated organizational, written and oral communications skills are essential.
Two years of relevant professional work experience.
Candidate must have the ability to use Windows-based office software products.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess relevant, professional experience in both academic and non-academic environments.
Documented teaching and advising experience.
Professional experience in experiential learning.
Strong understanding of the health care professions, including preparing a competitive application to health professions programs and preparing pre-health students with parallel plans.
Strong understanding of undecided student needs and how to support students through career exploration
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to issues of diversity and inclusion; an understanding of social and ethical issues in health care.
