Overview: The Application Developer and Technical Analyst is a key role in Downstream IT Operations. This position is responsible for the reliability of business processes delivered by Chevron Business Point which relies on a web application used by Chevron Fuels and Lubricants customers around the globe. Processes include sales, marketing, customer service, ordering, accounting, information sharing, decision analysis, and data integration with SAP as well as many other Downstream and ITC systems. An Application Developer and Technical Analyst works with Downstream Solution Architects and Information Architects, Business Relationship Managers, Business Analysts, ITC ESS and IA Analysts to optimize application performance and data integration, ensure information security, and provide system reliability for Downstream Sales & Marketing processes.This position provides an opportunity to deepen and broaden technical knowledge into Java & XML, Hybris, Adobe Experience Manager, WebLogic, Oracle, Unix/Linux and Windows, build business and e-Commerce knowledge, develop leadership skills, work with virtual teams, collaborate with business partners, and solve complex performance tuning and system reliability issues. This is an excellent feeder role into future Technical/Solution Architect roles or Information Architect roles.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Overall technical responsibilities of an Application Developer and Technical Analyst include ensuring application reliability, analyzing system performance, designing and implementing application improvements and enhancements, providing workload analysis and system error analysis, establishing standard background jobs and system health checks, monitoring, performing Oracle database administration, enforcing change control and release management standards, problem escalation and resolution, working with software/hardware vendors, working with business partners, maintaining environment copies, system refreshes, IRM compliance, and ensuring alignment with Downstream IT governance and Chevron IT standards.Additional responsibilities include developing solutions with programs and interfaces using application functionality and configuration tools, communicating incident status with business partners, planning and scheduling implementation of changes, implementing database additions/changes by maintaining stored procedures, triggers, views, etc., creating high quality system support, technical and programming documentation, coordinating the implementation of required hardware and software components for approved applications, web application development, deployment, integration, migration and upgrades.On occasion, an Application Developer and Technical Analyst must respond to after-hours critical emergencies for application reliability and may need to perform night/weekend work required for system maintenance activities.Required Qualifications:
? Must have strong skill sets in 2 or more of the following: core Java, Spring MVC, Hibernate, JQuery, Oracle, SAP Hybris (preferred)
? Although technical training will be provided, the candidate must be a self starter, curious about technology, able to multi-task, able to work independently, communicate well, and have a passion for solving difficult, technical problems.
? Minimum Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
? Application Support experience and basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
? Demonstrated ability to quickly learn/grasp different technologies and systems.
? Strong communication (written/verbal) skills with solid ability to convey technical information to a diverse audience (business analysts, technical analysts, managers, etc.)
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to engage difficulties with persistence.
? Self-directed, flexible, working with minimal supervision, takes initiative, displays a high degree of ownership.
? Must be willing to adjust working hours to meet with individuals in other global locations.
? Willingness and ability to travel if needed.Preferred Qualifications:
? SAP Hybris experience/knowledge strongly preferred.
? WebLogic experience/knowledge strongly preferred.
? eCommerce solution experience/knowledge strongly preferred.
? Knowledge of IT ERP solutions including SAP strongly preferred.
? Adobe AEM knowledge preferred.
? System hardware, application architecture and environment knowledge preferred.
? DevOps and Agile scrum experience preferred.
