Job DescriptionRole Description: The System Engineer will be focused on day-to-day operations, optimizing, automating, and reporting of enterprise-wide systems that are managed by Global Corporate IT. This includes ensuring the availability and highly-performing Microsoft core servers, business solutions servers, back-office applications, virtualized environment, storage, backup and related systems.The position allows for participation in global projects, providing an opportunity for the individual to collaborate with colleagues from other company's subsidiaries and sites.I.Essential Functions: - Ensure availability of core business solutions such as SAP, Navis, Ariba, and Email services and running at optimal performance while maintaining high-level of security - Collaborate with Global IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve server, storage and applications issues - Act as corporate SME in the areas of Windows Server, Virtualization, Storage, Backups, SQL, Messaging, Web Server, etc. - Investigate, recommend and implement enhancements and operating procedures that improve system availability and performance for corporate and remote offices - Understands and accounts for peak load, manages peak load events - Review, analyze and execute system change requests - Participate in security audits of the systems and improve the security posture - Participate in tests of disaster recovery on a global and peer-site basis - Participate in the specifications, evaluation and selection of new system architectures, systems, tools, and techniques. - Also perform the implementation and testing once selections have been made.
Participate in various global projects and initiatives, taking the lead on relevant projects and problems when requested or as appropriate II.Job Requirements and Competenciesa.Skills and Abilities: - Must be self-motivated with strong technical skills as well as good interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizations skills - Expected to be approachable, service-minded and articulate in communicating complex technical issues and plans for remediation - The ability to work and team effectively with colleagues, management, partner peers in a multi-tiered, fast-paced environment - The individual must be a fast learner and can adapt quickly to a changing environment - Physically capable to lift or move IT equipment as required - Be eager to accept new responsibilities as the company grows b.Knowledge and Experience: - At least 5 years of proven experience at performing in a large global network environment - Excellent skills in Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Active Directory, supporting 2008 / 2012 / 2016 environments - Demonstrated experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, OpenStack etc. - Experience working with performance monitors and debugging tools: SCCM & SCOM, Hyperic, SolarWinds, Splunk etc. - Experience with business solutions: SAP, Navis, Ariba, Microsoft Office 365 - Experience with incident response, security best practices, system hardening, vulnerability management, antivirus, SIEM, and techniques for analyzing network traffic and event logs as they relate to system operations. - Knowledgeable in PowerShell Scripting - Documenting solutions with diagrams and proper description is required - English speaking and writing is a requirement c.Professional Qualification and Training: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline - Professional certifications such as MCITP, MCSE, or VCP a plus - Experience and/or certifications in ITIL or PMI a plus d.Working Conditions: - Works in an office environment - Working hours are Monday thru Friday, generally from 8:00AM to 5:00PM - Flexibility to work evenings, weekends or holidays to satisfy specific project or client needs - Occasional local and foreign travels
