About the role

We are seeking an Accounting Process Specialist to join the Finance Team in Manila in a mid- shift role. This role will be responsible to ensure that a range of Period End Close (PEC), General Ledger, Reconciliations, Analysis, Reporting and Statutory Reporting accounting activities are performed in a timely, accurate and effective manner for companies located in South America. In addition, this role will liaise across the globe to accomplish various objectives and deliverables.

Core Accountabilities
- Demonstrates and instils an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Demonstrates commitment to the BHP Billiton Charter and Code of Business Conduct.
- Processing and performing accounting activities related to General Ledger and Period End Close (PEC) accurately by the due date in compliance with standard operational procedures
- Perform monthly reconciliation of General Ledger accounts
- Perform month end, half-year end, and year-end closing activities per Group timetable
- Complete Reporting and Analysis activities as required
- Timely and accurate management of enquiries & escalations, inclusive of ad-hoc requests
- Continuous drive for process improvement by pro-actively identifying and implementing process improvements within the team / process
- Assist with system testing as required
- Pro-actively ensure compliance with all internal SOX controls
- Coordination with internal and external audit requirements
- Contribute to and support global process standardization within Finance
- Support the open communication of ideas and information within the Finance team

About You

Qualifications:
- Degree qualification in accounting with at least 4 years of accounting or general finance experience
- Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA) either completed or currently pursuing will be added advantage

Experience & Technical Competencies
- Experience in SAP application in related accounting areas
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Non-Technical Competencies:
- Fluent English, both verbal and written
- Spanish language proficiency would be an added advantage
