Our Client
A well established UK company providing digital solutions to clients predominantly within the travel sector. Proven allies to some of the most recognised and well-known brands in the global travel sector with twenty-five years of experience.
Role Overview
The successful applicant will become part of a core Java team.
Helping to deliver our Java Application, including our CRM.
Supporting developments through to release, including estimates, unit tests and bug fixes.
Software upgrades and new deployments to UAT/Live environments (may include some Bash scripting).
Supporting the automation of testing and software deployments going forward.
Candidate Requirements
The platform is primarily Java-based, so strong Java and OOD skills are an absolute must.
A willingness to pro-actively research and use new libraries and projects as needed to add new platform capabilities to complete our roadmap.
Have a solid grounding in how web based server side applications and databases work.
Confidently take ownership of products and systems to move forward using best practice process and technology.
Experience with Cassandra, Spring, MySQL, Maven, Ant, JaxB, JAX-WS, XML and Elasticsearch are advantageous.
Experience with Linux based operating systems is advantageous, including nginx configuration and Bash scripting.
Experience with Java, unit testing, web services (for Development and testing) and MongoDB are essential.
Understand how to describe and design a system in terms of data structures and algorithms in order to participate effectively in core design workshops.
Participate in the sales process and estimation of new projects and extensions to existing projects.
Be comfortable working in a rapid iteration development cycle moving from prototype to production while engineering to a high level of quality, using leading automated testing techniques.
Enjoy / understand the importance of working in all layers of the platform architecture- UI, business logic and persistence.
Be totally committed to writing the most efficient, scalable and robust code possible, and to continuously improve your ability in this area.
Most important of all… where you don't know something, be happy and ready to roll your sleeves up and learn it!
Experience in travel technology is highly desirable.
