Provide technical leadership, mentorship and delivery capability to an emerging team
Demonstrate a good balance of technical understanding and strong leadership skills who have proven experience in the development, deployment and support of services built on a track record of stability, availability and quality
Identify and deliver improvements to delivery speed and production quality
Work as a technical subject matter expert, develop the strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for technologies reviewing and steering platform scope to ensure maximum value from investment
Build and maintain IaC artefacts, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the strategy
Empower your Developer and QA colleagues by helping them help themselves
Provide production support perhaps including being part of an out of hours on-call rota
Drive completion of DevOps strategy initiatives, including maturity assessment, roadmap creation, future blueprint.
Create effort and cost estimates for small delivery teams across technologies (not just DevOps).
Create client-facing value propositions for DevOps including the business case and win themes.
Coordinate large modern engineering transformation programmes which include combinations of technology introduction, training, coaching, and governance management.
Drive completion of modern engineering strategy initiatives, including maturity assessment, roadmap creation, future blueprint, and business case.
You will be involved with Java source, build a pipeline which tests compiles and builds then delivers it into a functional test environment for functional testing.
You will define and build the modules that deliver this application into SIT, UAT and Run.
You will be actively involved in the initiative to migrate applications to AWS.
Configuring maven build scripts to ensure consistent and scalable build process
Maintaining Team City build and deployment configurations, creating Docker files.
Establishing code quality gates in Bitbucket and Sonar Cube, developing maven plugins to automate deployment tasks, implementing utility scripts and dashboards.
Spinning instances in AWS, with right controls and managing them for the project teams.
Work closely with Barclays AWS partners and infrastructure specialists.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any related field
At least 5 years of experience as a Senior level developer
Professional experience being directly accountable for a successful and high performing DevOps delivery team
Highly independent leader who can be self-sufficient on the ground at a client.
AWS Associate / Professional certification.
Build and Deployment: Maven, Maven Plugins, Nolio, Chef, Artifactory, Nexus, Team City, Jenkins, Docker, EFK, Prometheus and Kibana.
Jenkins, GIT, Groovy and Gradle execution – Creating and using Jenkins shared libraries
Cloud Technologies: Understanding of Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure etc. (AWS preferred)
Automation Tooling: Ansible, Puppet, Terraform
Linux/Shell Scripting
Amazon Web Services experience
Infrastructure configuration management

Capable of making and guiding effective decisions, explaining clearly how the decision has been reached
Able to make decisions characterized by managed levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase
Take ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements
Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical
Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
Able to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleagues
Strong sysadmin coding skills (Ruby, Python)
Ability to demonstrate the design and support of a robust build, deployment and configuration management system for multi-tier applications
Worked within fast paced entrepreneurial company and able to balance the need for ‘speed to market’ with stable systems maintained through procedures and documentation
Has experience in managing a team is a plus.
