Job DescriptionRole Description: The SAP BASIS Engineer will be responsible for implementation, administration, configuration and maintenance of the Basis component of ICTSIs current and future global SAP landscape (Business Suite, HANA, S4HANA, Gateway, Solution Manager, Business Warehouse, and NetWeaver applications). This role ensures the availability and integrity of the application technology stack necessary to support SAP functional solutions.The position allows for participation in global projects, providing an opportunity for the individual to collaborate with colleagues from other Companys subsidiaries and sites.I.Essential Functions: - Proficient in the use of ASAP methodologies supported by SAP best practices. - Works with our SAP Hosting/Cloud provider during installations, configurations and maintenance of the NetWeaver - Application Server technology stack including the ERP Core Component (ECC), SAP BPC, SAP BW, Exchange Infrastructure (XI), Business Objects, future HANA, S4HANA and various toolsets - Interface with internal and external IT teams for data center, server, virtualization, network, storage and database support - Ensures that SAP landscapes are effectively installed, maintained, refreshed and patched - Accountable for monitoring and management of performance of the SAP production environment. Identifies actual or potential performance issues and resolves them in a timely manner to avoid impact to the business processes.
Recommends configuration alternatives to improve system performance - Acts as focal point for services issues, patches and upgrades with SAP and related ISVs. Tracks and communicates all identified technical issues with SAP - Understands and accounts for peak load, manages peak load events - Provides second level of support for SAP basis incidents and problem resolutions meeting SLO requirements - Establishes and manages all processes, policies and standards related to SAP operations, such as: backup, recovery, patching, upgrades, landscape design and build, high availability, instance/environment build and refreshes, batch job execution, SAP system tuning, transports, installations, user access, etc. - Manages the processes of end user setup/change/removal - Collaborates with partners and vendors on system changes and requirements - Ensures strict compliance with ICTSIs change management - Manages transports of changes between the landscapes - Manages the Basis team internal and external, onsite, offshore and outsourced - Supports security audits of the SAP system landscape, resolves and improve the security posture - Participate in tests of disaster recovery on a global and peer-site basis - Assist in research and evaluation of new SAP technology platform capabilities - SAP HANA installation, implementations, management, performance troubleshooting, configuration, and migrations is required - Accountable for managing private or hybrid cloud environment - Setup of multitenant Database Containers is an option - Provides Basis support for all SAP related projects and initiatives. - Responsible for managing data migration onto SAP systems - Responsible for integration of other systems/solutions with SAP II.Job Requirements and Competenciesa.Skills and Abilities: - Must be self-motivated with strong technical skills as well as good interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizations skills - Expected to be approachable, service-minded and articulate in communicating complex technical issues and plans for remediation - The ability to work and team effectively with colleagues, management, partner peers in a multi-tiered, fast-paced environment - The individual must be a fast learner and can adapt quickly to a changing environment - Be eager to accept new responsibilities as the company grows b.Knowledge and Experience: - At least 10 years of proven SAP Basis experience at performing in a large global network environment - Experience of working in a virtualized environment like VMWare.
Proficient in working in Windows and Linux server environments - Deep knowledge of SAP system installations and administration, as well as deep understanding of the SAP architecture and multiple application modules, particularly strong SAP NetWeaver platform knowledge - Hands-on experience with system refreshes, upgrades, performance tuning and batch scheduling - Experience with configuring and utilizing Solution Manager components such as Maintenance Optimizer, ChaRM, SAML2, SAP Root Cause Analyzer and SMD/LMDB - Understanding of SAP networking components such as saprouter, ICM and Web Dispatcher - Understanding interface technologies such as SOA, EDI, REST, RFC, IDOC, BDC, BAPI - Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with users at all organizational levels. - Experience with system software documentation and technical writing. c.Professional Qualification and Training: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline - SAP certification(s) desired - Experience with SAP HANA is a plus d.Working Conditions: - Works in an office environment - Working hours are Monday thru Friday, generally from 8:00AM to 5:00PM - Flexibility to work evenings, weekends or holidays to satisfy specific project or client needs - Occasional local and foreign travels
