Principal Product Manager
The Expedia Group Air Product team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to join our team and lead one of the most strategic areas of the Air platform, our shopping engine. This leader will work across commercial and technical teams in Air and the broader team to help lead the efforts around our shopping engine that power different air customer experiences across our brands and partners. As the Principal PM, you will be valued member of our team, responsible for owning and executing on the air shopping product strategy and ultimately help us setup the long term path for the product which is a key differentiator for Expedia Group. This will involve the full product lifecycle: from gathering requirements from internal and external constituents to ensuring we achieve the right outcome. Working closely with technology and commercial teams to translate requirements into fully realized programs and outcomes.
What You'll Do:
Independently propose and motivate changes in technology, platform or direction based on strong understanding of technologies, benefits and trade-offs and data at the organizational impact level.
Identify and anticipate risks and while taking calculated risks as appropriate that are measured and monitored to grow and benefit the organization.
Communicate appropriately with all levels within EG to ensure transparency of progress, risks and risk mitigation and garner support for changes in scope, schedule, and/or budget.
Partner with multiple teams across Product, Technology, UX, Program Management and across Expedia Group to move project progress forward and remove barriers, understanding when to empower and when to become deeply involved.
Build consensus in cross-organizational forums which lead with comprehensively informed opinions based on input from diverse perspectives across teams.
Lead customer expectations and resolve conflicts that balance customer, brand and technology needs
Act as a connector to build strong working relationships and foster an environment of trust and partnership across teams.
Can become a leading authority on new products or technology, as required by job demands.
Serve as a mentor to junior members of the team and raise the bar for the entire team.
?What you bring:
Bachelors, Masters preferred
10+ years of product management experience in a variety of e-Commerce applications and/or large scale platform(s).
Airline/travel domain expertise, specifically in the areas of air shopping, pricing and inventory/availability
Deep experience in agile/scrum software delivery practices in a fast paced environment
Open to new challenges, exceptional at multi-tasking, innovative, creative, self-directed and a teammate that thrives with continuous process improvement, and collaborates with senior technology leaders
A passion for working across teams to drive high level solutions, resolve detailed operational issues, and ability to draw upon your experience in solving business problems through technology.
Ability to credibly coordinate between technical teams and business partners
Dynamic record of delivering sophisticated software systems or services
Familiarity with APIs, workflow modeling, and enterprise application integration
Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices, identify what truly matters, and resolve problems at time based on incomplete or imperfect information.
Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of business and technical leadership
Deep understanding of software development processes including development, configuration, testing, and deployment
Ability to apply deep business knowledge to drive strategic direction and vision for his/her group or operating unit
Ability to advise on and inspire changes in the strategy or organization
Maturity, judgment; and influence, analytical, and leadership skills
A bias to action as a self-starter with a curious mind, constantly working to achieve better results, gain a better understanding of the business, and deliver better value to partners and customers
