Position Overview:
Hometime is growing fast, and expected to grow even faster. Our Engineering Team has more than tripled within the last few months. We’re looking for a very dynamic Head of Engineering that will help us further scale while ensuring we never lose the collaborative culture that our team was built on.
The Head of Engineering manages the entire development team. You’ll be a key stakeholder in the technology strategy, and fully own the execution of our product ideas. You will lead your team towards building an exceptional platform and technology stack.
More importantly, you will be a mentor to the people you manage. Properly setting expectations, and setting forth achievable goals for your team. We expect you to be working for your people, and not the other way around.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the day to day activities of the Engineering Team.
Own the Engineering execution of the product life cycle.
Lead the charge on building a highly scalable product that customers will love!
Close collaboration with Product Managers and Designers to ensure requirements are fully fleshed while planning. Making sure ideas are feasible for Engineering to execute on.
Be an awesome role model for the entire team, understand their key issues, empathize, and constantly finding solutions.
Project and resource planning. Ensuring expectations are set, and delivery commitments are clearly defined to the team.
Scale the Engineering Team and direct oversight of the recruitment process.
Contribute to the overall Engineering strategy from a code level and into infrastructure architecture.
Preferred Qualifications & Characteristics:
5+ years as an Engineer, plus a minimum of 3 years managing a team of 10+ developers.
A leader that Engineers naturally gravitate to with their strong people skills, technical skills, and demonstrated expertise.
People management with extensive experience in coaching and mentoring a high performing team.
Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate with various departments in the organization.
Tuned to current and leading technologies, and industry best practices.
Ability to clearly define values and drawbacks to technology recommendations and decisions.
Experience in building enterprise applications.
Expert Ruby on Rails and/or React developer is preferred.
