Position Summary:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure, software, Microsoft active directory and storage. This position develops and follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations involving complex infrastructure problems. The Systems Engineer also participates in road map activities, budget process and design and implementation of new technology solutions to support business requirements.
Overall Responsibilities:
Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
Have a general knowledge of server technologies (including Windows Server 2016), and network and enterprise storage technologies.
Administer and maintain at least one complex operating system (Microsoft OS or Linux) environment in compliance with all standards.
Has working knowledge of and may provide system support for at least two technical platforms (VMWare, HyperV, NetAPP, Pure Storage, Active directory, Cisco UCS, etc.).
Responsible for backup/restore, capacity planning, and disaster recovery procedure on assigned platform(s).
Provide Tier 2 support and resolution of open IT issues escalated by IT Operations Team.
Maintain and manage strong vendor relationships to resolve problems and coordinate the delivery of IT products and services.
Ensure that assets are responsibly maintained, inventoried and/or disposed of properly.
Serve as an escalation point for technical issues at the team level.
Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems
Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
Participate in post mortem process for problems as appropriate.
Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
Stay current on industry trends and new technologies and recommend future initiatives
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required:
1-3 years providing mid to high level, hands-on technical support of infrastructure platform(s)
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
Project Management experience
Relevant technical certifications
Strong operating system installation, configuration and troubleshooting skill
Experience with VMware vSphere, Pure Storage and Cisco UCS
Experience with scripting/automation skills (e.g. VB Script) and experience with WMI strongly preferred.
Experience with VMware View and/or VMware vCloud Director
Knowledge of Powershell
Knowledge of server clustering
Basic understanding of security concepts. (i.e. Active Directory, NTFS permissions, security auditing, security user contexts, application layer vulnerabilities, etc.).
Understanding of storage, back-up solutions, network, and hardware technologies.
Experience in Windows and/or UNIX/LINUX operating systems.

Proficient in all currently supported technology standards in use at Majorel.
