About the Data Architect (Insurance, Financial) Role:The Data Architect (Insurance, Financial) is part of the Enterprise Solutions Architecture group. This position’s primary focus is on designing the Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Warehouse (DW) solution of the enterprise. This role is also responsible for crafting sound blueprints for data management systems, including the Information Architecture and conceptual and logical data models.
Key Responsibilities:
Create a fluid, end-to-end vision for how data will flow through an organisation, and how this is managed
Collaborate with IT teams and management to devise a data strategy that addresses the organisation's requirements
Develop data models for database structures
Design, document, construct and deploy database architectures and applications
Build an inventory of data needed to implement the various applications architecture being built for the insurance company
Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
Research new opportunities for data acquisition
Identify and evaluate new data management technologies
Constantly monitor, refine and report on the performance of data management systems
Produce and enforce database development standards
Maintain a corporate repository of all data architecture artefacts and procedures
To succeed in this Data Architect (Insurance, Financial) role, you must work closely with senior business leaders, and technical stakeholders.Key Requirements:
At least three years of relevant work experience in architecting, designing, implementing data architectures
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or Management
Strong technical knowledge in the following:
Database management system software (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
User interface and query software
Enterprise application integration software
Agile methodologies and ERP implementation
Predictive modelling, NLP and text analysis
Data modelling tools (e.g. Erwin, Enterprise Architect and Visio)
Data mining
UML
ETL tools
UNIX, Linux, Solaris and MS Windows
Hadoop and NoSQL databases
Machine learning
Data visualisation
Strong interest in the latest relevant tools and technologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of latest analytics developments/trends
Background in insurance or financial services is a plus
