Hands-on role in transformation infrastructure projects (from legacy systems to cloud-computing environment)
Define, maintain and promote server and storage standards and procedures and ensure alignment with the company's IT strategy and business objectives
Manage the day-to-day planning, configuration and tuning of server and storage activities
Ensure regular high-performance, scalable backups and restores are performed on a schedule and offsite storage is tracked
Manage the troubleshooting, repair and replacement of procedures for server and storage solutions
Ensure effective monitoring and alerting systems are in place for server and storage infrastructure to ensure a proactive response to potential incidents
Ensure software and security compliance of server & storage operating systems & infrastructure through appropriate lifecycle management
Engage service providers as necessary to ensure the provision of a robust and cost-effective service.
Implement and monitor server and storage control processes and ensure that procedures comply with regulatory requirements, security requirements and the company's policies and standards
Perform timely and regular reporting on the status of server and storage activities and any escalated potential risks/issues to the Infrastructure Operations Manager
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business, or comparable industry experience.
7+ years' experience in a Server, Storage and backup roles or similar
Demonstrated experience withcloud hosted technologies
Amazon Web Services (AWS knowledge and project experience)
Experience with automating, managing and monitoringAWS services: EC2, EBS, ELB, Route53, Cloudformation, S3, Cloudwatch, Autoscaling, VPC and RDS.
Strong Linux skills: debugging, package management, performance tuning and administration.
Experience with Windows OS build, configuration and automation.
Experience with Microsoft technologies (AD, DFS,Azure AD, Backup Utilities)
Experience with Python, Boto and Bash/shell
Knowledge of Middleware technologies (ie. Tomcat, Apache and Java). Familiarity with systems management concepts, capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network concepts such as subnetting, DNS and routing/switching.
Desirable experience with RDS technologies: Oracle, SQL and PostgreSQL
Understand advanced application hosting techniques including containers, serverless, PaaS and SaaS
Demonstrated experience designing and improving the reliability and operational automation of complex cloud IT systems.
Experience building scalable automation in one of the following; (Python, JSON, Ansible, Puppet).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including a flexible and dedicated approach to customer service
Excellent current knowledge of IT trends in server and storage technologies
In-depth knowledge of technology infrastructure, servers and storage ( VxRail , Commvault/Commserve, VMware, Net App, AZURE,Dell Compellent storage, SCOM,SCCM etc)
Proven competency in complex IT and business planning acumen and comprehensive IT knowledge
