About The Role
The Writer is responsible for crafting and distributing digital content across web, blog, email, and occasional social media channels. This role serves as a go-to writer for the marketing department, managing major writing projects and for advocacy, brand campaigns, and more.
Location is flexible, and we currently allow staff to work from home during COVID-19 for safety.
What You’ll Be Doing
Research and produce a wide range of content that supports RepresentUs programs, including but not limited to: Member emails, blog posts, reports, web copy, social media posts, video scripts, etc.
Create resources for audiences and respond to member questions through the creation of FAQs, webpages, and emails.
Manage organization’s public-facing email accounts, responding to questions and directing questions to relevant staff members (info@).
Manage distribution of content to our email list, including regularly serving as final proofer and sender on member list emails.
Design messaging streams for RepresentUs audiences.
Assist with the development of talking points for the organization or campaigns, ensuring all messaging is in line with our branding.
Stay up to date with best practices for digital content creation and share best practices with marketing staff.
Create Search Engine Optimization content and contribute to the organization's SEO strategy.
Assist with marketing projects across the organization as needed.
Skills and Experience
Ability to learn new skills quickly.
High level of organization, including experience coordinating multiple projects at once.
High attention to detail; spelling and grammar snobs are encouraged to apply.
Excellent copywriting skills.
Experience using publishing tools for social media platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines, and stay organized to get a campaign out the door
Creative thinking and problem solving skills.
This is a remote position, and candidates must have consistent access to reliable internet and phone.

All employees must be able to operate a computer and use a cell phone. Essential functions of the role include:
Working from a computer for long periods of time;
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may also frequently be required to communicate using the telephone, email, and in person with stakeholders; and
This position has less than 2% travel expectations and is eligible for flexible work hour arrangements.
This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 153 (OPEIU). RUEF voluntarily recognized the union recently and collective bargaining is just getting underway. Therefore, there is not yet a collective bargaining agreement in place.
