OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The Office of the Regional Director (RDO) supports the work of the Regional Director, and provides overall leadership and coordination of communications, external relations and partnerships, information products and services. RDO also supports the work of WHO's governing bodies.
The External Relations and Partnerships Unit (ERP) within RDO works in close collaboration with many different parts of the Organization to provide staff with tailored support in order to make the process of mobilizing and managing resources as fast, simple and efficient as possible (from proposal submission, to negotiation and agreement, to reporting to donors on activities). A critical part of this is developing rapport and fostering partnerships with prospective donors/partners, as well as ensuring timely and quality reporting to existing donors/partners.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the supervision and guidance of the Technical Officer, External Relations & Partnerships, the incumbent is responsible for the following functions:
1. Monitor upcoming donor reports and work closely with the relevant country offices and technical units to ensure all reports adhere to a basic checklist of quality indicators. This includes providing writing, editing, and formatting support, as well as ensuring overall compliance with donor agreements and WHO policies;
2. Assist in maintaining the regional digital repository of donor reports, to provide quick and easy access to existing reports, and highlight examples of good quality reports;
3. Support the Technical Officer/ERP in the coordination of an informal 'peer review' system within the Western Pacific Region, to provide feedback from peers on donor reports and help build regional learning and capacity;
4. Assist in collecting feedback from donors, reporting back to the Technical Officer/ERP, on data collected, and using this to ensure continued enhancements in quality;
5. Support the Technical Officer/ERP, to undertake capacity-building with Country Offices and Technical Units, and develop and maintain a stock of capacity-building materials and tools; and
6. Other duties as required.
Essential: University degree in international relations, social sciences, business administration, public administration, development studies, public health or related field, or equivalent professional training/self-study.
Desirable: Degree or training in communications or public health.
Essential: Minimum two years' national and international experience in donor reporting or data management, information analysis or resource mobilization.
Desirable: Work experience in the field of health communications. Experience in international organization, especially WHO.

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 47,322 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1751 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
