Main Activities / Responsibilities:
Provide a consolidated view of financial business performance and planning to business partnering teams across Pearson
Using data provided by all appropriate systems, prepare and deliver financial planning and analysis to business areas enabling effective business decision making. Do this by:
Complete the processing of all technical responsibilities (see below) in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
Understand where data comes from and how it is presented to enable application into the process in the right way
Apply judgment and analytical skills to ensure the accuracy and relevance of outputs needed by the business
Contribute to team effort and assist co-workers across all business divisions as needed to balance workloads
Help to create a work atmosphere conducive to a high degree of integrity and teamwork
Maintain customer satisfaction by promptly following up on customers’ requests for information
Ensure performance targets are met and service is delivered to end users as expected
Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and innovative solutions and communicate these to the Lead Analyst
Take proactive involvement in determining and implementing best practices
Technical Activities/Responsibilities:
Preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and strategic plans to include but not limited to; development of reporting packs for population by business and support to Finance Business Partner in the provision of additional data or analysis where required, consolidation of business results providing first line review and challenge of said results, and other ad-hoc support as required
Maintenance of budget policies and procedures and communication of said procedures to business areas, acting as central point of contact between the finance Business Partners and other central finance teams
Cost center management to include month end preparation (review of journals, invoice coding, results analysis) and budgeting/ forecasting responsibilities
Completion of monthly reporting into the business leadership teams once finalized by Finance Business Partnering teams to include appropriate commentary and analysis
Provide support to the Finance Business Partnering teams team through ad-hoc tasking when requested via GBS
Qualifications
We are looking for relevant experience in:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
Proficiency utilizing accounting software
Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products, including advanced knowledge of Excel
Budgeting, planning, forecasting and management reporting (including variance analysis
Stakeholder management
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with both finance and non-finance professionals
Experience of working within a large organization
Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (v-lookups, sum-ifs, pivot tables etc.)
Experience of finance ERP systems (Oracle preferred but not essential)
A self-starter who is motivated to work under own initiative when required
Ability to work as part of a team, identifying and providing support to colleagues
The working hours for this role will be night shift, working United States Eastern Time.
