JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of intermediate level accounting functions and support in the areas of general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and banking. The idea candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. They will have experience collaborating with accountants and junior accountant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and records assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense entries and adjustments by compiling and analyzing account information. Continuously improves business processes, systems, and enhance documentation and controls as part of our SOX compliance efforts Reviews current revenue recognition processes/procedures and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and timeliness of the close and reporting Monitors and maintain monthly aging reports and reconciliations. Records accruals, reversals and ensure billing and payments occurred in proper periods. Researches and explain trends and variances for multiple accounts for monthly financial and cost center reporting. Ensures accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks. Analyzes complex monthly vendor invoices. Prepares trial balance and financial statements. Supports accounting manager with month-end and year-end close process. Assists Manager and Controller with annual audit and budget process. Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Generates Adhoc reports Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA in Accounting, Finance or equivalent work experience preferred 5 + years of proven experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process Technical knowledge and practical knowledge of revenue recognition standards ASC 606 a plus Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Awareness of business trends and familiarity with financial accounting statements Proficient in advanced Excel (including pivot tables), Word and Email, accuracy and attention to detail required Knowledge of Oracle a plus Relevant CPA certification preferred
