The scope of this position requires a good understanding of key business processes and SAP functionality. Under general supervision, the candidate will work with business users to define requirements through research and fact-finding, and will develop or modify moderately complex design, ensuring changes do no impact existing system functionality. The SAP Application Support Specialist will provide support and enhancements to existing functionality within the SAP environment; may include design and implementation of new functionality. This includes interacting with end-users to understand requirements, prototyping, functional specification development, data mapping and setting of configuration tables, documenting configuration and end-user procedures, and conducting end-user training. The candidate will work under the supervision of a senior team member to broaden technical and business knowledge in the company.Major Responsibility Areas (MRAs)
• Works on support requests and approved prioritized enhancements. Follows existing change management procedures. Informs his/her manager through periodic status reports detailing the progress of all on-going tasks. Responsible for completing assignments in an accurate, timely and prioritized basis. Accurately scopes out length and complexity of tasks and schedules work accordingly.
• Participates in and is responsible for driving / coordinating the collection of business requirements from the end-user community. Identifies solutions that meet the needs and also identifies potential issues in delivering business requirements; bringing issues to the attention of their supervisor and driving to resolution.
• Works with IT and end-users to map new business processes on the SAP system. Assists in the definition of the new processes and develops prototypes in a test environment to simulate the new process in order to produce a functional system which is consistent with the requirements specified by the client. Responsible for developing test scenarios and subsequent implementation of test plans documenting test results.
• Develops program specifications and assists developers with testing functionality of program.
• Responsible for ensuring that successfully tested changes are transferred to the production environment following the appropriate transfer process.
• Ensures results obtained satisfy client requirements and new business processes operate effectively and efficiently in the integrated system environment. Obtains written approval from clients that changes are completed to their satisfaction.
• Responsible for preparing and maintaining required documentation, including, but not limited to, configuration documentation, business procedures, and training documentation.
• Responsible for undertaking small integration projects that cross functional areas.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Formal Education
o BS. Degree, preferably in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics), Management or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
• Specific Knowledge Requirements
o Expertise in any SAP skills mentioned in the job heading
o Good knowledge of business software i.e. Word Processing, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange or equivalents.
o Familiar with multiple business processes, e.g., Purchasing, Plant Maintenance, Quality Management • Experience
o At least seven years of project implementation and/or support experience in SAP
o Prior experience in a Help Desk environment desired
o Experience with Access or other database software desirable
