Job Description
The role:
Transition/Change Management oversight of work migration into MBPS and/or transformation affecting MBPS existing services
Partner with Business Unit PMOs or BTOs
Transparent and timely information sharing: “No Surprises!”
Alignment on sending and receiving program activities & time lines
Anticipating of risks and quick joint resolution toward project objectives
Continuous improvement of transition and/or change management methodologies to optimize business outcomes
Role and Responsibilities
The Data Specialist is primarily accountable for analyzing the Remediation Team’s data needs, creating cleansed/validated/structured data, and providing data analysis/insights on the fly to drive the timely, data-driven and effective decisions throughout the program in order to achieve operational excellence.
Responsibilities include the following:
Analyze Remediation Team’s data management needs and create core data management programs to meet them
Work with business users and senior leadership to gather requirements for reporting and analytics projects
Perform data acquisition, access data quality and test data accuracy and reasonableness
Identify relationships in disparate data and resolve any obvious discrepancies
Manage data in unusual formats and convert it into understandable or usable formats as needed
Source information from multiple upstream data sources, including relational databases, flat files, and other datasets
Database development, including object design and implementation of tables, views, functions and stored procedures
Perform data sanitation by analyzing large volumes of data and prepare correlating models/calculations
Extract, import and export data from various sources and provide support in testing and validating data
Perform data auditing activities and share findings with ongoing data architecture improvement programs and associated governance
Research and pull data fields to assist in analysis
Identify data anomalies and perform data reconciliations on a daily basis
Prepare data reports, training materials (data guide rails), and business presentations
Implement data backup plans and ensure that they are timely and properly secured
Analyze and resolve routine data problems and execute processes to resolve complex data and system problems
Serve as a liaison between functional areas to ensure provision of quality and consistent data
Perform ad-hoc research and analysis to support overall business initiatives and reporting projects
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, Financial / Investments, Legal Management degree holder or other relevant post-secondary education preferred.
At least 3 years relevant experience with Information Technology, Financial Services or Middle and Back office operations enabling integrated solutions to optimize processes, technology, data etc.
Experience in executing projects with attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy and quality
Must be able to demonstrate a high skill level in development of database objects, query design and optimization
Must have demonstrated experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g. PowerBI, Cognos, MicroStrategy, Tableau, QlikView, Business Objects)
Development skills is a plus such as Web development (HTML, Javacript, JQuery, CSS) and/or Object oriented development (C#, Java)
Relational database experience is a plus
Strong technical and problem solving skills
Ability to balance multiple deadlines and work independently
Advanced knowledge of business, standards, infrastructure, architecture and technology in related areas from a design/ support/ solutions perspective.
Capacity and eagerness to work independently as a senior/lead role on diverse tasks, and also coach/educate/guide/direct others.
Ability to direct activities related to analysis, design and support of technical data management solutions on larger projects that are highly complex and multi-faceted.
Ability to work in ambiguous environment and adapt to change while managing time and workload with aggressive timelines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across cultures. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of Excel (i.e. mastery of excel formulas, pivot tables, and VBA)
Proficient in O365 Sharepoint and MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Project.
Flexible on shifts and overtime maybe required to meet business deadline
Willing to travel depending on the requirements of the project
