Detailed Job Description:
As part of the global Campus Solutions development team, you will focus primarily on creating solutions to known issues within the product. You will have responsibility for analyzing, understanding, and ultimately creating a solution that will become part of the CS product line. You will have the responsibility for executing sound problem solving practices, and for creating and executing a robust series of unit tests to ensure that additions to the product are functionally and technically sound. As a senior applications developer, you will be expected to participate in code, design,and unit test reviews. You will be expected to provide guidance to other developers, and to understand larger architectural imperatives of the product and ensure that these are upheld.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Good business analysis and strong technical technology skills
- A minimum of 5 years of software development experience with proven development and programming skills.
- Strong programming skills built upon a Bachelors of Science degree (or equivalent) in a related software engineering field.
- The ability to work well within in a collaborative environment. Experience in working as part of an external/internal virtual team or alone as required by priorities.
- Strong communications skills: including the ability to communicate well in English both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to adapt technical skills to new programming languages.
- Experience in COBOL development is required.
Preferred skills:
- Knowledge and skill in applying SQL and RDBMS concepts.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft programming languages, and other PeopleTools technologies.
- Experience in Campus Solutions - Financial Aid is an advantage.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
