Duties and Responsibilities
Library User/Client Support
Monitors and attends (e.g. email, social media sites) to online library queries and requests Attends to in-depth queries and reference questions of library users Conducts Reader’s Advisory Services to direct library users on materials pertinent to their research and interests Creates listing of bibliographies for particular topics as requested by library users Advances the Document Delivery Services (DDS) by coordinating with various local academic libraries and institutions/library consortium institutions Issues referral letters for library users requesting to visit a library as part of the consortium for their research needs Coordinates and conducts library orientation and guided tours of the Section and of the Rizal Library Develops and conducts tutorial classes and trainings on basic research and the use of the different online resources of the library Creates library guides and Online Frequently-Asked-Questions (FAQs) Collection Development
Recommends and evaluates collections (potential and existing) to be acquired, de-selected, repaired, preserved, and/or digitized Evaluates library databases and system applications Oversees the inventory of Reference materials, ensuring resources are updated and accessible Section Management
Assists in the preparation of Section reports required by the Section Head Prepares data for Section’s annual budget requests Prepares reports required by the Section Head Prepares collection inventory and activity / usage reports of the Section and of Rizal Library Records, collates, and maintains statistical data on the assigned area of responsibility Assists in updating Section guidelines, procedures, and website Monitors the physical condition of Section resources and recommends upgrades, repairs, or new purchases Creates print and online request forms for Section services Assists in promoting and collaborating with stakeholders, both inside and outside the Rizal Library and the University, regarding the various collections and services offered by the Rizal Library Assists in developing, designing, coordinating, and monitoring programs and initiatives (e.g. research grants) geared towards the enhanced utilization of Rizal Library collections and the services Creates marketing materials for the Rizal Library Assists in orienting and training the Section staff Performs other tasks that may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science (BLS), Library and Information Science (BLIS),
Must be a Licensed Librarian
With at least 1 year work experience in a library setting
With knowledge, skills and abilities on the following:
Knowledge of library operations and standards Knowledge of current trends and issues in higher education and academic libraries Knowledge of Document Delivery Services (DDS) procedures Ability to conceptualize and design marketing and promotion materials Ability to plan, lead, organize, and control Skills in communicating and presenting effectively Skills in interpersonal relations Skills in multimedia, photo, and video editing Critical thinking and problem solving skills Technologically savvy Attention to details Quality and service orientation
