Job Description
The School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for our Voice/Academic Studies faculty position. This is a one year, full-time temporary (non-tenurable), position (#131120) at the rank of Lecturer. Start date for the position is August 1, 2020.
Primary responsibility includes: Teach applied voice to music majors and minors; oversee weekly studio master class; teach class voice, teach diction and pedagogy; teach elements of music or introduction to music; and perform with faculty colleagues and visiting artists.
Housed in the College of Liberal Arts, the MTSU School of Music serves 400 undergraduate and graduate music majors and minors in Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees and specialized minors. MTSU was the first in Tennessee to become an “All-Steinway” institution and is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Curricular specializations include composition, conducting, jazz studies, music education, music history, music industry, music theory, and performance. The School provides myriad performing opportunities including five wind bands, three orchestras, three choral ensembles, opera theater, vocal jazz ensemble, big bands, jazz combos, chamber music and percussion ensembles, steel drum ensembles, salsa band and commercial music ensembles.
