Candidate must have the Red Cross Certificates. Ensures the safety of facility patrons through the careful enforcement of rules and standards.
Conducts in water rescue techniques and life support skills.
Acts as a resource to patrons in the instruction of proper water safety, practicing sound public relations and customer service skills.
Assists in maintaining high standards of cleanliness both in the beach environment and within the beach facility.
Assist with first aid and/or water rescue situations throughout the preserve.
Performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, jumping, swimming, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting.
Teach swim lessons to all levels and age groups assigned in accordance with the instructor objectives, curriculum and teach policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Manual.
Monitor the patrons and the activities, identify potential safety concerns and take action to prevent accidents or injuries.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide first aid, if needed.
Report any accidents or incidents to Aquatics Supervisory staff immediately, notify 911, and complete accident reports, as directed.
Participate in monthly in-service training sessions.
Use and store equipment appropriately, assist with pool set up and general cleaning of equipment and natatorium.
Respond to questions or situations in person.
Duties include maintaining the pool in an orderly condition, and assisting with other related maintenance activities. Work is performed independently in accordance with established procedures, and is subject to review through visual observation and inspection by a supervisor.
Enforces pool safety regulations and department policies and procedures to prevent accidents and maintain order.
Performs custodial and/or janitorial tasks to maintain a clean facility area.
Responds to emergency situations and assist or rescues swimmers in distress utilizing established rescue techniques.
Administer first aid to cuts or other injuries suffered by swimmers and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R), as necessary.
Answer inquiries from pool patrons.
Performs all kayaking and outdoor recreation duties including, supervision of patrons during open water trips, lifting and storing of outdoor recreation equipment, and instructing trip participants on proper equipment placement and water safety.
