Department Summary
The mission of the Honors College is to enrich the academic and intellectual experience of talented and motivated undergraduate students by promoting the pursuit of excellence at the University of North Texas. Honors students become part of a community of scholars, with access to Honors classes and a wide array of special programming. Honors students have opportunities to build intellectual and academic frameworks that prepare them for graduate school, careers, and lifelong learning.
Position Summary
The University of North Texas Honors College invites applicants for a benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, continuing lecturer position. As a full-time faculty member, the successful candidate will teach 4 Honors courses per semester and will participate in departmental and university service activities. Courses will include a combination of interdisciplinary Honors (HNRS) courses and Honors sections of courses in the Lecturer’s discipline. Typically, the distribution of effort will be 80% teaching and 20% service to the college. The successful candidate’s academic expertise will complement, not duplicate, those of current Honors College faculty members.
Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree in applicant’s discipline by June 2020
College or university teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
An ideal candidate is committed to teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and working collaboratively to support the mission of the Honors College.
Honors or interdisciplinary teaching experience,
Experience supervising undergraduate research or experiential learning projects,
A commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development, and
Knowledge or background in more than one discipline or perspective and/or willingness to explore general topics beyond one’s primary discipline.
