Details of the offer

Job description
Edinburgh, Scotland
UK UE08 or UE09 per annum (depending on experience)
Located on the Easter Bush Campus, just outside the historic and picturesque city of Edinburgh in Scotland, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the right individual to join the small animal orthopaedic surgery team based in the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. The successful candidate will help to contribute to the hospital’s mission to deliver world leading care alongside an outstanding student experience and transformative clinical research. The University of Edinburgh is consistently ranked as a global leader in veterinary science, and offers opportunities to work with internationally leading academics whose visions are shaping tomorrow’s world.
As part of a team covering all aspects of small animal orthopaedic surgery, you will play an important role in the development and provision of the clinical service that supports our expanding caseload. You will play a key part in patient and client care, the delivery and assessment of the BVM&S undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, and in enhancing e-Learning teaching initiatives.
Working in a multidisciplinary environment, where collaboration is actively encouraged, you will be supported by teams of specialists in soft tissue surgery, neurology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, oncology and anaesthesia among others, and our physiotherapy service.
You will be provided with the support and time you require to develop your clinical interests, teaching and research ambitions. Interaction with colleagues across the range of specialist disciplines will provide the support and stimulation you need to develop your career from a campus with strong collaborative links. Research in Edinburgh takes place within a vibrant, integrated, and interdisciplinary structure, which facilitates and encourages interaction between researchers across groups, centres, schools and colleges.
You will hold a veterinary degree and, at the time of appointment, be registered with the RCVS and be boarded or board eligible for the appropriate European or American Diploma. Experience in teaching and basic science or clinical research along with a postgraduate research qualification to PhD level are desirable, but not essential.
Informal enquiries are encouraged, and can be made to the Head of Companion Animal Sciences, Prof. Richard Mellanby (***************@ed.ac.uk), Director of Clinics, Dr. Sue Murphy (**********@ed.ac.uk) or Head of Small Animal Surgery, Dr. Dylan Clements (**************@ed.ac.uk).
Competitive salary offered subject to experience and role.
