We are looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable K-12 ELA teachers to help us create subject and grade level-specific content outlines for our source-free (L1-independent) English learning product. In this telework (remote) contract position, you’ll prepare subject-specific English language content course scope and chapter outlines that are aligned with WIDA and CCSS standards for Mango’s source-free English product. You will work with our linguists and media team to concept how to best convey the ELA language content using visual media and text. You will inform the linguist and Ideation Manager on best practices teaching ELA to learners of English and consult with them on how to best incorporate these methods into language-learning software for the K-12 space.
This remote position allows you to connect from anywhere in the world and enjoy the flexibility to work at hours that suit you and your schedule. In this role, you will be part of a diverse team of linguists, media and design experts, and other K-12 specialists who are there to support you and exchange ideas. Responsibilities
Write ESL/ELA subject matter course curricula that lays out the order of course content to be covered and aligns to WIDA and CCSS.
Write ESL/ELA subject matter chapter outlines that include the vocabulary words and phrases specific to the content and proficiency level.
Provide and align chapter outlines to WIDA and CCSS standards.
Write detailed descriptions (scenes) of how to convey vocabulary and phrases using visual media.
Draft initial formative activities for all language domains and Bloom’s / DoK levels for chapter content based on the chapter outline.
Commit to approximately 10-20 hours of work / week. (Most work is asynchronous. There are approximately 2 hours / week on synchronous meetings to review deliverables.)
Commit to approximately 6-8 hours of training paid by Mango Languages.
Job Requirements
Dual Certified ELA / ESL teacher (preferred)
Certified K-12 ELA teacher (If not certified in ESL, strong background and experience working with English learners.)
Proficient in the application of WIDA standards in the ELA classroom
Experience using technology in the classroom
