Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.Direct message the job poster from ConfidentialTalent Management & Acquisition Lead @ FPG Insurance | People and Culture I HR Systems I PsychologyRole Overview:The position manages the Department by setting up standards of underwriting excellence in order to achieve a positive underwriting balance and to provide effective and efficient underwriting control to ensure that the standards and guidelines set by the company are met.Key Responsibilities:Departmental planning and organizing:Assists to complete annual Strategies and Plans for the DepartmentOrganize the department in a manner that will enable the staff members to efficiently perform each task.Maintain fair and appropriate distribution of work amongst staff membersStaff Management:Delegates responsibilities to competent staffPersonally supervise direct-reporting staff membersMotivates all staff members of the Technical Audit;Manages the staff members of the Department to ensure appropriate standards, punctuality, attendance and general behaviorObjectively appraise performance of each staff member and recommend appropriate rewards following the performance development appraisal guidelines and proceduresIdentifies training needs of each staff member, write individual training plans in consultation with the HRD and monitor administration of trainingConducts training and mentoring unit personnel on new methods and techniques relative to present assignments as the need arisesEnsures Company standards are metEnsures that there is adequate feedback from staff members on the performance of work and achievement of resultsEnsures that delegated work to each staff member is performed efficiently and the intended result is effectively attained; Take immediate corrective action whenever necessarySets procedural guidelines for underwriters, issuing intermediaries and branch/service offices; Sets and apply appropriate guidelines for business being written; Continually improve as necessary these parameters and guidelinesConsider, creates and implement advances in other internal and external procedures including checks and control on staff, intermediaries with issuing authorityEnsures that the above guidelines and procedures are carried out by the staff and authorized writing intermediaries.Technical Work:Ensures that the Company writes a well-balanced account in accordance with the current policies set by the CompanyReview, update and monitor key processCompile, review, update and disseminate guidelines set by the CompanyMonitors the implementation and dissemination of procedures and guidelinesReview existing MIS reports and recommend improvement, if necessaryAssists in identifying areas for improvement on the result of Business Excellence ModelOversees the review, updating and monitoring of unreleased policies in coordination with the Profit Center and MISAssists in conducting pre/post audit of Financial and Claims mattersOversees audit on policies issued ensuring accounts written are within the set standards and guidelines, including rating and policy terms and conditionsChecks on possible accumulation of risks so as not to over-expose the Company; Coordinates the placement of outward reinsurance when necessary in order to ensure that the Company obtains the appropriate level of protectionConducts audit on the current practice of underwriter's acceptance.
