Job Description:
The position is responsible for on-site inspection, local monitoring, and routine minor maintenance of the Boiler and Turbine/Generator and related auxiliary equipment and accessories, as well as for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Plant's water treatment equipment.
The position's area of responsibility covers the Boiler, Turbine/Generator, standby Gen-set Unit, Water Treatment Systems, and all other auxiliaries that form part of the boiler/turbine operations as well as all the equipment composing the Plant's Water Treatment System. Inspects, monitors, records periodically in log sheets, and evaluates the physical condition of the Boiler/Turbine generator and related auxiliary equipment and accessories on-site as well as the operating values indicated at local instruments and panels to detect evidence of equipment malfunction and/or deviations from prescribed standards. Reports any abnormalities observed to immediate supervisor for appropriate action. Regulates and adjusts auxiliary equipment with local controls to achieve stable operations upon the instruction of the Control Room Engineer or Shift Supervisor. Maintains the cleanliness of equipment, auxiliaries, and accessories within the area of responsibility using appropriate cleaning methods to prevent equipment deterioration. Test-runs emergency generators and all stand-by equipment and records in log sheets in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure reliability and performance. Assists the Control Room Engineer and/ or Maintenance team in equipment repair and maintenance procedures to facilitate the servicing of equipment, as needed. Observes proper turnover procedures before leaving the post or taking over the next shift to ensure a smooth turnover of responsibilities. Operates water treatment equipment following operating procedures and specifications to ensure the safe and reliable production of specified water quality. Monitors, records periodically in log sheet, and analyzes equipment operating conditions and water quality parameters to detect deviations from standards and/or other problems, and executes necessary corrective measures. Promptly reports to the Supervisor any problems that cannot be handled by the incumbent for appropriate action. Ensures that water basins/pools and chemical tanks are clean and disinfected in accordance with established procedures, including proper disposal of chemicals, to prevent contamination. Ensures the proper treatment of wastewater in accordance with established procedures in compliance with government regulations. Prepares and submits status reports on the water treatment operations for reference and control. Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and conducts minor repairs on auxiliary equipment and accessories to keep them in good working order at all times. Reports problems encountered to immediate Supervisor for information and/or appropriate action. Coordinates the preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment with the Maintenance Department to ensure optimum performance. Complies with occupational safety, health and environmental rules and regulations to avoid accidents, illness, and adverse effects on the environment. Complies with housekeeping policies within the area of responsibility during assigned shift to maintain standards of cleanliness and orderliness of plant equipment and premises. Minimum Qualifications:
2 years’ experience in power generation plant 1 year experience in water treatment operations B.S. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
