Overview
We are looking for a Director of Manufacturing Quality to join our growing team in Taipei. This individual will play a key role in setting Manufacturing Quality strategy to align with business needs and provide leadership, direct and manage day-to-day manufacturing quality activities to ensure products are built to specifications and meet all quality objectives. This position will report directly to our San Francisco-based Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations.
What You Will Do
- Develop people to achieve high performance by providing direction, coaching, and mentoring to Quality team members in setting priorities, work direction and objectives, technical skills, and talent development
- Must be able to manage employees and contractors in remote sites
- Partner with cross-functional leadership teams at various levels within the organization to ensure quality objectives are being defined and met. This includes, but is not limited to Product Design, R&D, Reliability, Mfg. Engineering, Supply Chain, and Business leadership.
- Partner with Supply Chain organization to support new supplier selection, evaluation, and approval process
- Coordinate all quality-related activities at supplier sites to solve daily quality issues of components and products using 8D method in both NPD & MP stage
- Take quick containment actions to avoid line down situations and drive effective CAPA to avoid recurrence of issues
- Ensure suppliers understand and implement all quality standards, procedures, and requirements needed to manufacture Tonal products
- Drive the use of quality tools at the suppliers to predict quality risk early during NPD stage (PFMEA, PQCP, FAI, Cpk, CMF test, Reliability test… etc.)
- Drive improvement actions at the suppliers, monitor and assess supplier performance using supplier scorecard
- Identify process and design improvement opportunities and drive improvement with internal R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Suppliers
Who You Are
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- More than 15 years’ experience in quality engineering area, 10 years as Quality Manager
- Good English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Six Sigma Black Belt certificate analytics thinking and systematic
- Proactive working attitude and a strong sense of ownership
- Visionary leader who is result orientated can drive continuous improvement with both Suppliers & Internal
- Cross-Functional Teams Ability to frequently travel and visit both domestic and international suppliers
- Strong, in-depth Quality Knowledge & Techniques such as PMEA/SPC/CTQ/8D/Six Sigma, etc.
- Considerable knowledge of mechanical / electrical parts quality control, especially on Motor / Display Touch Panel / Power Supplier / PCBA / Cable … etc.
- Considerable knowledge of measurement methods (Caliper, CMM/OMM, Surface Finish Measurement…etc.) Considerable knowledge of GR&R and SPC (Ca, Cp &Cpk)
- Knowledge of RoHS, Prop 65, WEEE… etc.
- Considerable knowledge of Quality Management System Audit, Process and Quality Audit.
- Excellent problem-solving & decision-making skill
- Considerable knowledge of APQP / PPAP process
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
