Primary Function
Technical responsibility for the scheduling and testing of the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start up activities to move the capital project from construction to completion and plant operational status.
Special Skills and Certifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – four (4) year program with preference for BSME or BSEE
· API standards for commissioning and start-up of process equipment for LNG, refining, petrochemical and chemical plants.
Specialized Knowledge
· Comprehension of Process Design (PFD’s) and Piping and Instrument Design (P&ID's)
· Mastery of plant start-up and shut down sequences.
· Working knowledge of all disciplines such as mechanical, instrumentation, electrical and piping systems at both the engineering and craft levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform preliminary checkout of all systems and components prior to start-up. Coordinate, checkout, release and start-up of systems with Subcontractor and Client.
· Ensure proper storage of equipment waiting for installation- includes compliance with special storage requirements.
· Supervise the calibration of all devices on projects that calibration is required. Coordinate and document wiring and required testing of instruments-document calibration when necessary. Turn over devices to the Owner with documentation.
· Maintain continuous status report on work completed with percentages. Report, document and follow-up on all deficiencies found; ensure corrective action is taken.
· Interpret drawings, identify errors/omissions, make correction.
· Compare signal compatibility between control equipment supplied by different vendors.
· Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
