In this role, you will determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria and assist with processing of specimens when needed. You will also follow written lab procedures for the correct handling and processing of specimens and perform QC steps for receiving specimens into lab for IHC staining. Leverage your clinical expertise by locating and transporting specimens as per company standards and protocols. In addition, follow protocols for acceptance/rejection protocols and recognize unexpected or unreasonable results and/or testing delays.
You will perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures and perform lab procedures of moderate and high complexity in accordance with standards set forth in sectional laboratory procedures. You will also complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines. Channel your organizational skillset through organizing and set-up of specimens for testing per technology, service level, tumor type and/or testing panel. The Medical Laboratory Technologist will perform all necessary laboratory testing in the detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of disease. Additional tasks can be assigned at the discretion of the Supervisor/Manager/Director. Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all technical procedures in the department and operations of all instrumentation.
This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday from 10am - 6pm with limited rotations.

Preferred Criteria
Prior Immunohistochemistry experience with either Leica Bond or Ventana/Roche instruments. Experience cutting frozen sections on a cryostat and paraffin sections on a microtome.
One year of relevant work experience or minimum two years of progressive histology/pathology or medical laboratory experience instrumentation
ASCP certification
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level
2-3 years or more of PC experience, including data entry skills and Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel
Required Criteria
A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent experience)
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
