Job Description:
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist helps make the vendor management and procurement process of Honest Farms, the Organic Farming Business of Healty Options, more efficient. He / She does this by proactively sourcing products, building relationships with suppliers, negotiating cost and developing agreements that ultimately help Honest Farms grow and become more profitable without sacrificing fair trade and quality.


Ensures consistent supply of products
Prepares and executes sourcing plans
Actively sources new suppliers aligned with the company’s mission and vision Negotiates deals with existing and potential suppliers Drafts contracts Evaluates market conditions and risk management plans
Performs trade checks (supermarkets, wet market, trading posts, farms) and observes price movement published by relevant government authorities. Monitors availability of seasonal crops Keeps abreast of new or revised government regulations related to the business Monitors other external factors affecting crop and livestock availability (e.g. prevailing pests and diseases, weather and climate pattern, etc.) Builds and maintains relationships with partners
Acts as a liaison to business partners and production team
Monitors effectiveness of supplier’s crop and livestock production program to fulfill orders Communicates purchase orders and changes thereof to suppliers and other stakeholders Confirms and communicates delivery schedule and quantity Communicates quality assurance test results and quality concerns to suppliers Informs the production team and other stakeholders of discrepancies in items to be delivered by suppliers, delivery quantities, and delivery schedules. Determines farmer requirements and reports to management for any actions needed Conducts regular visits to partner farms based on established schedule Reviews supplier performance Performs administrative tasks
Creates purchase order (PO) in the ERP system Ensures PO are approved in a timely manner Timely processes sales invoices, ensures on time release of payment, and communicate bank deposits, if necessary, to partner farms. Timely processes cash advances, liquidations, petty cash replenishments, requests for payment, purchase requisitions, supply requests, etc. Close purchase orders, if necessary. BS Agricultural Business Management, BS Agricultural Economics, BS Agriculture, BS Business Administration or related degrees with background in crops and livestock production. Competencies:
Crop, livestock production Negotiation skills Familiarity with sourcing and procurement procedures including government regulations Personal attributes:
