Work Set-up: First 2-4 weeks onsite training before transitioning to fully remote/wfh.
Work Hours: 5am to 3pm, Monday to Friday
Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AutoCAD Draftsperson to support our architectural metalwork and balustrade design projects. This role will focus on preparing precise fabrication-ready shop drawings, converting design markups into clean CAD files, and occasionally creating 3D models to support visualization and engineering review.
The ideal candidate should be proficient in drafting for fabrication, with specific experience in architectural detailing, custom metalwork components, and 3D visualization. The role requires the ability to interpret complex sketches, work autonomously, and maintain drafting consistency across projects.
Develop shop drawings and fabrication documents for architectural balustrades, stainless steel, glass, and custom metalwork systems Create and revise 2D and 3D CAD models to support fabrication, client presentations, and engineering reviews Translate redlines, scanned sketches, and verbal directions into accurate, professional-grade CAD files Prepare detailed fabrication packages including plan views, elevations, sections, and exploded component details Ensure technical accuracy and compliance with Australian standards and architectural documentation protocols Work closely with Yap Engineering to align on project timelines, drawing requirements, and priorities Organize and maintain drawing sets with version control and file management best practices Communicate proactively to flag missing information, clarify scope, and resolve technical issues Assistance with tendering where required – quantity take offs, summary of specifications and designs Assistance with project management report writing where required (QA, OHS) Minimum Qualifications: 4+ years of professional experience in AutoCAD drafting Strong understanding of architectural details, shop drawings, and fabrication documentation Experience working with stainless steel, glass, or other architectural metal systems Proficiency in interpreting redlines, scanned sketches, and verbal direction Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setting High attention to detail, accuracy, and version control in CAD documentation Fluent in English (written and verbal) Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting Australian-based contractors or design teams Familiarity with architectural drawing conventions and local building standards Background in custom metal fabrication or subcontractor detailing Ability to assist with 3D modeling when required (e.g., balustrades or steel structures)
