Job description

The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University seeks an exceptional Horn teacher and performer in Horn to begin Fall 2019. This is a tenure-track position that will hold the academic rank of Assistant Professor.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate must recruit, maintain, and teach a full studio of horn students, including students pursing undergraduate degrees, the Master of Music degree, and the Artist Diploma;
build relationships with local, regional, and national horn and related professional organizations;
maintain an active performance schedule and appropriate creative activities as scholarship;
participate in department, university, and professional service;
coordinate chamber music and ensemble assignments, juries, and related matters with the brass and woodwind faculty and ensemble conductors; and
teach other music courses as assigned by the director of the school of music.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should have an earned Master’s degree (DMA preferred) or significant professional accomplishment in lieu of the degree.
The successful candidate must possess outstanding professional credentials as a horn player and studio teacher;
demonstrated ability to actively engage students in learning and problem solving; and
demonstrated success in recruiting talented students.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in teaching at the college level and to candidates who have held one or more professional performance appointments.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
