Summary of Duties:
The School of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences is currently recruiting for an Assistant Professor, Career Track |Choral Conductor/Choral Music Education/Voice
The incumbent will teach choral music methods (two semester sequential course, taught every other year), direct at least one choral ensemble, teach voice studio; other possible assignments dependent upon the strength of the successful candidate and program needs. Serve as the coordinator of the choral music education program. Maintain professional visibility as a teacher, conductor, and singer, including performance with the WSU voice faculty ensemble, Cantiamo! Build relationships with music educators in the state and actively participate in recruitment and mentoring of students and program-building initiatives. Participate in service activities and professional organizations ancillary to the position.
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in choral conducting or music education.
Documented evidence of current or past certified choral teaching at the secondary level.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the university/college level in the private studio, ensemble and classroom.
A high level of performance as conductor and vocalist, organizational skills, and interpersonal communication.
Keyboard skills commensurate with college-level choral ensemble and voice studio instruction.
