About the role
We are recruiting a junior Vessel Operator for the Iron Ore Maritime team based in Manila in the Maritime & Supply Chain Excellence organisation. You will become part of the company's dry cargo team which operates 24/7 vessel operations up to Cape size vessels.
You will be working closely with the Company's pre and post-fixture department, agents, ship owners, technical managers and our internal stakeholders on all voyage management, documentation and risk and safety management expertise.
This role is demanding, requires 24/7 voyage management, handling multiple vessels 10+ per month. High attention to detail, learning agility l and sense of urgency as we work in a fast pace environment. You will have good communication skills and be able to work with internal and external stakeholders globally. You are a person who will want to stretch themselves and their abilities to deliver a high performance.You will have some knowledge of demurrage and Lay time calculations and freight differentials, processing of invoices.

- Use transportation management system (containers) for managing container flows
- Use voyage management system (bulk) for managing bulk flows
Stakeholder
Engagement with team members globally to evaluate the performance of single voyages
Develop and maintain excellent customer service relationships with team members and stakeholders in Maritime team.
Process
Performs all administrative tasks including but not limited to documentation, ETA updates, laytime calculations, bunkering, invoices and payments for all Voyage and Time Charter operations.
Timely execution of administrative processes with regards to procurement of Freight related services for BHP.
About You
- Bachelor degree in shipping, commodity trading or maritime economics
- 2-3 years’ experience in voyage and time charter operations or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in operations of voyages
- Experience in Containers, Oil and Gas, Cape, Panamax and Handymax operations
Experience & Technical Competencies
Strong analytical skills, detail oriented and excellent communication skills
Knowledge of technical aspects of voyage management
Experience with complex data analytics systems and proven experience with interpretation of data to drive cost reduction.
