Position Summary:
The Social Science Division at Southern Oregon University is seeking candidates for a full-time, nine month, non-renewable Adjunct Assistant Professor in Psychology. Ideal candidates will have completed a Ph.D (ABD candidates will be considered) in Clinical Psychology or Personality Psychology. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified to teach abnormal psychology and personality psychology as well as research methods, and general psychology. Prior teaching experience equivalent of at least one-year at the college/university level is required. Class modalities will include both face-to-face and online course delivery. Applicants should provide documented evidence of scholarly activities and demonstrate a commitment to providing research experiences for undergraduate students.
Other responsibilities include advising, curriculum development, research, professional affiliations as appropriate, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Southern Oregon University is a public liberal arts institution of approximately 6,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The surrounding area is known for cultural offerings such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Ashland International Film Festival, and the Britt Music Festival. The Rogue Valley is also renowned for outdoor activities such as hiking, snowboarding, and fishing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Initial appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor requires a doctorate (or ABD) in Clinical/Personality Psychology or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of teaching experience in higher education in either or both online and face-to-face modalities Applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentorship Applicants should possess a record of excellence in communicating research findings as evidenced by conference presentations and journal publications, and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing research experiences for undergraduate students
Preferred Qualification:
Ph.D. in Psychology in Clinical/Personality Psychology or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution More than one year of teaching in higher education Experience advising, and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students Preference will be given to candidates with experience mentoring students, including students from diverse backgrounds Experience teaching introductory courses in Abnormal and Personality Psychology.
