An exciting Accountant job based in Ortigas has just become available in a global company specialising in plastics who is starting up their operations in the Philippines.
About the Accountant Role:This position leads the accounting and finance team for the Philippines business. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure accurate and timely financial and statutory reporting, and that all local and US GAAP requirements are met, guaranteeing the quality and effectiveness of accounting practices, with a focus on continuous improvement. The role will be reporting directly to the Southeast Asia Financial Head while managing one direct report.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that month-end closing and all relevant reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) are completed in a timely manner
Coordinate the completion of all statutory returns such as VAT, withholding taxes, income tax return and statutory accounts
Coordinate both internal and external audits, and responsible for building and maintaining relationships advisers
Prepare and/or review journals and balance sheet (including bank) reconciliations; periodic assessment of completeness of accruals and prepayments
Perform risk analysis, review, and provide recommendations for business process changes necessary to address risks of financial misstatement; Work with management, operations and finance teams on implementing the changes
Work closely with cluster FP&A team to collaborate analytical data to support the business operations; as well as participating in the annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly forecasting process
Ensure compliance with the group’s accounting policies, US GAAP and SOX-lite; ensure ongoing risk-based monitoring, design, and implementation of effective internal controls with a goal of maintaining the same effectiveness, not lower than the average of APAC countries
Ensure that adequate internal controls are in place to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accuracy and reliability of financial records
To succeed in this role, you must have at least four years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
Key Requirements:
CPA is a must
Experience in Big 4 firms is a plus
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Able to operate well and independently
Must have strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and presentation skills
Must be highly organised, detail-oriented and has good time management skills
Must be willing to work in Pasig City, on a day shift schedule, Mondays through Fridays
